About the Role
EnergyCo NSW is seeking a Communication & Engagement Officer to play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of the Hunter Transmission Project (HTP). This is a unique opportunity to contribute to one of NSW’s major infrastructure projects, ensuring communities, stakeholders, and government partners are kept informed and engaged throughout all stages of delivery.
In this role, you will:
- Support the development and implementation of strategic communications plans for HTP.
- Partner with project teams across HTP and EnergyCo to produce fit-for-purpose, consistent, and impactful communication collateral.
- Coordinate engagement activities with landowners, community groups, Aboriginal stakeholders, local Councils, and Members of Parliament.
- Deliver media and communications activities including branding, campaigns, social media, media relations, issues management, and community-facing materials.
- Provide ministerial support through high-quality talking points, contentious issues briefs, and event coordination.
Key Challenges
- Maintaining productive relationships across the Hunter region and EnergyCo business units to deliver strategic priorities.
- Supporting post-EIS engagement activities such as community information sessions, pop-up hubs, and stakeholder meetings.
- Ensuring a professional and effective handover of engagement processes to the HTP Network Operator in 2026.
About You
To be successful, you will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Proven communications and engagement experience on major linear infrastructure projects in NSW and/or Australia, including during public exhibition phases.
- Strong ability to build and maintain constructive relationships with diverse stakeholders to enhance collaboration and deliver effective outcomes.
- Excellent written skills, with experience drafting media releases, speaking points, briefings, fact sheets, and reports.
- The ability to travel to NSW Hunter region at least once per week
