About the Role:
The position leads the development and implementation of category management plans and sourcing strategies that ensure value for money while meeting stakeholder expectations.
The involves analysing business needs, commercial risks, and supply markets to inform procurement decisions, leading sourcing activities across various categories, and establishing effective supply arrangements.
The successful candidate will have strong supplier relationship management and risk mitigation skills to optimise procurement outcomes and maximise business opportunities. Additionally, maintaining thorough documentation of procurement processes and contractual arrangements is critical to ensuring transparency, accountability, and adherence to audit and compliance standards.
Essential Skillset:
Procurement & Contract Management
- Proven experience in end-to-end procurement (strategic sourcing, contract execution).
- Skilled in contract drafting, negotiation, and performance management.
Construction-Specific Expertise
- Understanding of construction methodologies, critical path dependencies, and site constraints.
- Familiarity with NSW Government regulations and compliance (desired but not mandatory).
Project Management & Strategic Thinking
- Experience in aligning procurement activities with project milestones and broader program objectives.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.
Technology & Systems
- Familiarity with ERP and procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Aconex) is desirable.
- Capable of using data analytics to track procurement performance and supplier compliance.
Soft Skills & Culture Fit
- Resilience and adaptability in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with commercial acumen to identify market trends and manage risk exposure.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Procurement: Manage the entire procurement lifecycle, from strategic sourcing and RFT/RFQ preparation to contract execution and closeout.
- Category Management: Lead the development and implementation of category management and sourcing strategies, ensuring alignment with project milestones and objectives.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate across diverse teams (e.g., engineers, architects, site managers) to ensure procurement processes meet technical and non-technical requirements.
- Tendering & Bid Evaluation: Conduct open and selective tender processes, evaluate bids, and negotiate contracts to secure best-value outcomes.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Establish strong relationships with vendors, monitor performance via KPIs, and enforce compliance with contractual obligations.
- Risk Mitigation & Compliance: Identify and address commercial and regulatory risks, with a focus on NSW Government guidelines and compliance frameworks.
- Documentation & Audit: Maintain thorough records of procurement activities and contractual arrangements to ensure transparency, accountability, and adherence to audit requirements.
