About the Role
We are seeking an experienced React / Spring Boot Developer to join a large-scale digital transformation program delivering modern cloud-based applications that improve services for businesses and citizens across New South Wales.
This program entails the modernisation and migration of older Java based applications into modern React and Spring Boot.
In this role you will work within an Agile delivery team, building modern user interface applications using React and developing robust backend services using Java Spring Boot. You will contribute to the design and development of scalable, high-performance digital platforms while collaborating with architects, testers, and product teams.
This is an excellent opportunity for developers who enjoy working on enterprise-grade systems, microservices architectures, and modern cloud technologies.
Mandatory Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial experience developing React / ReactJS web front-end applications
- Advanced skills in JavaScript, HTML, CSS and modern UI development
- Experience with containerised development environment
- Demonstrated experience building user interface (UI) applications
- Backend development experience / exposure using Java Spring Boot
- Experience working in Agile / Scrum delivery environments
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Highly Desirable but not essential (Nice to Have)
- Experience with Java backend technologies such as Hibernate
- Exposure to AWS cloud services
- Experience working with microservices architecture
- Previous experience working within NSW Government or Revenue NSW environments
- Experience building enterprise or large-scale digital platforms
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop modern front-end applications using React / ReactJS and JavaScript
- Build scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot
- Develop responsive and accessible user interface components
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams within an Agile / Scrum environment
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement
- Contribute to technical documentation and system design artefacts
- Integrate front-end applications with RESTful APIs and backend services
- Ensure applications are built with performance, security, and scalability in mind
