About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Service Transition Lead to support a major NSW Government initiative, with a strong focus on application service transition and service redesign. This role is critical in governing the transition of application services from delivery into BAU, ensuring operational readiness, stability, and alignment with ITSM and ITIL best practices.
You will work closely with project teams, delivery partners, and operational stakeholders to manage transition activities, embed sustainable support models, and ensure successful handover into live service.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Service Transition Lead, Service Delivery Manager, or similar role
- Strong focus on application service transition and Infrastructure service transitions;
- Solid project management background, with hands-on experience in structured delivery environments
- Strong understanding of ITSM and ITIL principles and service lifecycle management
- Demonstrated experience working within NSW Government or similar public sector environments
- Strong knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies, with the ability to operate in hybrid Agile/Waterfall environments
- Experience with PRINCE2 or similar project management frameworks
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and governance skills
- Ability to manage complex transitions in large, multi-vendor environments
Desirable
- ITIL Certification (v3 or v4)
- PRINCE2 Certification
- Experience in service redesign or operating model transformation
- Exposure to large-scale digital or application modernisation programs
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end application service transition activities from project delivery into operational support
- Govern and manage service transition processes, ensuring compliance with ITIL and ITSM frameworks
- Oversee service readiness, including support models, SLAs, OLAs, documentation, and knowledge transfer
- Collaborate with Agile delivery teams while maintaining strong project governance
- Manage risks, dependencies, and issues associated with application transitions
- Ensure service redesign outcomes align with business and operational requirements
- Provide clear reporting and governance to senior stakeholders
- Drive continuous improvement across service transition practices
