Strategy & Commercial Business Analyst – Financial Modelling – NSW / Federal Gov

• Sydney CBD, Hybrid working – 2 days in office
• $1000 to $1200 per day based on experience level

We are seeking three commercially minded Business Analysts to support major strategic investment, telecommunications and connectivity initiatives within a NSW Government environment.

These roles will suit candidates with strong experience in financial modelling, business-case development, commercial analysis, management consulting, corporate strategy or strategic transformation.

You will work on complex, high-profile initiatives involving broadband and telecommunications investment, funding proposals, pricing analysis, cost-to-serve modelling and government business cases.

Essential experience

We are interested in candidates with experience across the following areas:

• Financial / commercial modelling ideally within Strategy, investment and transformation as well as advanced Excel data analysis
• Business-case development and investment submissions
• Commercial, corporate finance cost-benefit analysis
• Management consulting or strategic advisory
• Corporate planning and organisational strategy
• Infrastructure, technology, telecommunications or asset-intensive environments
• Excellent PowerPoint presentation development skills
• Strong business writing and executive communication skills
• Experience preparing recommendations for senior decision-makers
• Confidence engaging with executives and complex stakeholder groups
• The ability to turn complex data into practical and commercially sound recommendations

Highly desirable but not essential experience

• NSW Government experience
• Australian Government or broader public-sector experience
• Management consulting, corporate finance or professional advisory experience
• Telecommunications, broadband or connectivity-sector experience
• Infrastructure or technology investment analysis
• Asset management or asset-intensive environments
• Insurance or financial services exposure
• Experience supporting cross-government or nationally coordinated programs

Candidates with strong private-sector consulting or corporate advisory experience are encouraged to apply even without previous government experience.

Key responsibilities

Depending on the position and level of seniority, your responsibilities may include:

• Developing detailed business cases, investment submissions, funding proposals and strategic analysis
• Building and reviewing advanced financial and commercial models
• Conducting cost-benefit, pricing, cost-to-serve and investment analysis
• Evaluating financial, operational and strategic options
• Translating technical, financial and operational information into clear executive recommendations
• Preparing high-quality executive presentations, briefing papers and decision materials
• Presenting findings and recommendations to senior government stakeholders
• Facilitating workshops and coordinating input from multiple stakeholder groups
• Supporting governance, assurance and procurement activities
• Managing project plans, risks, actions, dependencies and reporting
• Working autonomously through complex, uncertain and ambiguous problems
